Barbers Hill Church of Christ


Welcome to Barbers Hill Church of Christ! We are a community of believers dedicated to following the teachings of Jesus Christ as revealed in the New Testament. Located in Mont Belvieu, Texas, our congregation seeks to glorify God through worship, fellowship, and service to others, while sharing the gospel with our community and beyond.

Our Mission
At Barbers Hill Church of Christ, our mission is simple yet profound: to love God, love one another, and make disciples of Jesus Christ. We strive to live out the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) by fostering a deeper relationship with God and encouraging spiritual growth among our members. We are committed to being a light in our community, offering hope, support, and the truth of God’s Word.

Our Beliefs
As a part of the Churches of Christ, we hold to the following core beliefs:
  • The Bible as Our Guide: We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the sole authority for our faith and practice. We seek to follow its teachings without addition or subtraction.
  • Worship in Spirit and Truth: Our worship services are designed to honor God in simplicity and reverence, following the pattern of the New Testament church. This includes a cappella congregational singing, prayer, preaching, giving, and the observance of the Lord’s Supper each Sunday.
  • Salvation through Christ: We believe that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ, repentance of sins, confession of faith, and baptism by immersion for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38).
  • Unity of Believers: We aim to promote unity among Christians by adhering to the teachings of the New Testament and avoiding denominationalism.

Our service includes:
  • Congregational Singing: We sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs together without the use of instruments, as an expression of our heartfelt praise to God (Ephesians 5:19).
  • Prayer: We offer prayers of thanksgiving, supplication, and intercession, seeking God’s guidance and blessing.
  • The Lord’s Supper: Each Sunday, we partake of the Lord’s Supper, remembering Christ’s sacrifice and renewing our commitment to Him (1 Corinthians 11:23-25).
  • Preaching: Our sermons are rooted in Scripture, aimed at equipping and encouraging our members to live out their faith.
  • Giving: Members contribute financially to support the work of the church, including benevolence and spreading the gospel (1 Corinthians 16:1-2). Guests are not expected to give.
At the conclusion of our service, we extend an invitation to anyone who wishes to respond to the gospel by becoming a Christian or seeking support in their spiritual journey.
